It’s good to be back in-person at events!

Just a few weeks ago (Feb 2022), I was live interviewing at the RE+NorthEast Trade Show in Boston, Mass, and it was, in a word, amazing. I LOVE in-person interviews! The quality of the interaction really can’t be matched, even if I am not able to have all my notes and extra ‘research’ tools at my sneaky disposal “in the background”.

When I asked my friend, Antenna Group EVP of Cleantech Jake Rozemaryn, if he’d be open to a discussion about the trends they are tracking for 2022, he responded with “would you like to interview one of our new VPs instead? She’s a real deal expert and speaks more clearly than I do” (i may be embellishing a little on his text. haha). Enter Nadia Pabst, VP of the newly created Public Affairs Practice, a notable expansion of Antenna Group who is so well known for Marketing and PR.  From storage to solar fleets to self driving vehicles, Nadia brings a surprising breadth of experience and subject matter expertise to the political acumen clients would expect from a Public Affairs expert.

So, what’s the difference between Public Relations and Public Affairs?  How does that change the picture for the client and the industry?  I’m glad you asked! In this Tactical Tuesday episode, Nadia explains how Public Affairs takes a holistic perspective of clean energy entrepreneurship, grid sustainability, and policy to promote and secure real growth in this fast moving industry.

Special thanks to the folks at RE+ for setting aside a dedicated room for us at the show to be able to accommodate interviews. There will be more forthcoming like this from the RE+NE show, so make sure you’re subscribed to the podcast!

NOTEWORTHY QUOTES:

Looking at marketing and public relations. At the end of the day, you need to be holistic and look 360 degrees in the landscape in which you’re operating and say at any given moment, I can be written out of the market by poor policies or a very distant policy decision that has unintended consequences that impacts my business.
— Nadia Pabst
When I think about velocity in 2022, what really comes to mind is the ways in which policymakers and regulators are looking at the future of distributed energy resources.
